Hi, I'm Steph Carlson
I'm Steph Carlson, and I'm running for the Mother Lode Union School District Board of Trustees this November.
I've lived in Diamond Springs for 24 years. My work has taken me into schools, county wellness programs, and state health policy, but the reason I'm running is simple: I want every kid in this district to feel seen — no matter their background or what's going on at home.
Over the next few months I'll be sharing more about my background and what I hope to bring to the board. For now, just know I'm in this because I care about our kids and our community, and I'd love your support in November.

A little about my background: before I worked in county and state health programs, I served in the Navy.
That experience taught me a lot about showing up, working with people who don't always agree, and getting the job done anyway. It's the same mindset I'd bring to the MLUSD Board — collaborative, steady, and focused on what actually helps our kids, not politics.
Grateful for that chapter of my life, and proud to bring it into this next one.
Mother Lode Union School District
MLUSD is a small district — three TK-8 school sites and about 844 students total. In a lot of ways, that's exactly what makes it special: teachers who know students by name, families who've known each other for years, and a real sense of community at drop-off and pickup.
But small also means every decision the board makes is felt closely. A staffing change, a program cut, a facilities issue — none of it is abstract here. It shows up in a specific classroom, for specific kids we all probably know.
That closeness is part of why I want to serve — this district deserves trustees who feel that weight and take it seriously.
